Back to Basics

by Dr. Patrick MacNamara on June 18, 2008

My ride started at 6:00 a.m. this morning. The sky was clear, the temperature pleasant and my surroundings relatively quiet. The sun was peaking over the horizon as the birds teased it with song and dance. The nearby lake was emitting its breath into the atmosphere with an opaque hue across its back.

I absolutely love this time of the day! It helps me get back to the basics of life. And, here’s why…

Life can be hectic. Parenting can be a challenge. And, running your own business can be taxing. So, in order to keep things balanced, I follow a daily routine that keeps me rooted in the basics.

My daily routine consists of many things. Obviously, one of the components is exercise. You cannot take care of others if you do not take care of yourself. Therefore, my morning rides are not just about staying in shape physically. They have become a part of my pre-thought for the day which then becomes the catalyst for success into the future.

Over the next few weeks, I will walk you through my daily routine and what it consists of. I believe you’ll find valuable information that I’ve gleaned and learned from mentors that will transform who you are and are aspiring to become.

There is too much information to cover in just one post. So, I encourage you to subscribe to this feed so that you will know when the next part in the series is released. Also, please leave your comments as the series unfolds. The comments section can be another valuable resource for others to learn and gain from.

Until next time…focus on the basics!
